Epic Records

Epic Records is a American label of music , subsidiary of the group Sony BMG.

History

Epic is founded at the origin by CBS in 1953, and produces primarily albums of jazz and classical music. Its yellow shouting, black and blue logo becomes a mark familiar for good number of production of jazz and classical music. The label in particular produced the Philharmonic orchestra of Berlin, the Juilliard String Quartet, Antal Doráti directing the Orchestra of $the Hague, and George Szell directing the Orchestre of Cleveland.

Ten years later, Epic gains its gold first discs and develops in a way fulgurating in the fields of the Rock, R&B and the Country. Among the many artists whom it produced, one can count Bobby Vinton, The Dave Clark Five, The Hollies, Tammy Wynette, Donovan, The Yardbirds, Lulu, and Jeff Beck.

Success is prolonged in the Années 1970, by producing ABBA in particular (in the United Kingdom only), John Hiatt, Sailor, The Clash, Sly and The Family Stone, Boston, REO Speedwagon, Johnny Nash, Heart (under the label Portrait Records), The Isley Brothers, Edgar Winter and Charlie Rich.

In 1990, the label produced Rage Against the Machine, then Good Charlotte starting from 2000.
