Epic Ranges

Epic Ranges , in the past Epic MegaGames and also known simply like Epic , is a company of development of video games based with Raleigh (the USA).

Founded in 1991, Epic MegaGames left the same year its first play: ZZT. Gradually, the company develops, outgoing Epic Pinball - a play of flipper - and two plays of platform: Jazz Jackrabbit and Jill off the Jungle . They published also plays developed by other studios.

In 1998, Epic MegaGames leaves its first play in 3D: Unreal. The success of the play pushed the firm to develop and sell its engine, Unreal Engine and to leave a series plays based on the universe of Unreal: the Unreal Tournament on PC and Unreal Championship on Xbox. A continuation, Unreal 2, will be born also in co-operation with DIGITAL Extremes - which had already collaborated in Unreal and Unreal Tournament - but was accommodated by criticism with a certain reserve.

The achievements of the company include two others FPS: Gears off War on XBox 360 left in November 2006, 1 year later on PC and Unreal Tournament 2007 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows announced for 2007. In August 2005, Epic also announced that version 4 of its Unreal Engine had been already under development for 2 years, whereas no title exploiting Unreal Engine 3 had still left.
