Ephrussi family

The Famille Ephrussi is a family of Jewish bankers originating in Odessa (Russia), established in Paris (in the years 1865-1870) and with Vienna (Austria).

The ancestor Charles Joachim (1792-1864) builds the fortune of his family on the trade of the grains. He does not leave Odessa where were born his/her six children as well as the six grandchildren from its first marriage, which to die in Vienna.

The following generation settles with Vienna (Austria), continuous to thrive and Ignaz von Ephrussi founds in Vienna, in 1856, the Ephrussi bank. When the branches of Paris and London are opened, a score of years later, family members are sent abroad to direct them.
