Enzo Carli (Pisa, August 20th 1910 - His, September 26th 1999) was a historian of the Italian art, the largest specialist in Sienan art and pisan.

Biography

Raise, at the university of Pisa, Mario Salmi and then of Matteo Marangoni, it supports a thesis on the sculptor Tino di Camaino (1285-1337).

In 1937, it occupies a post office with the Soprintendenza dell' Aquila and, in 1939, share with His where it is established in this city and becomes one of the principal personalities of the cultural life and where it is invested in the valorization of its artistic inheritance.

Under its direction are held of many exposures and the publications, as much on the level of scholarship that of popularization. It directs Pinacoteca of His up to 1952, the Opera Metropolitana del Duomo up to 1973. Meanwhile he teaches the history of Art at the University of His, by refusing a station similar to Genoa not to leave His.

In 1980, it receives the Price of the President of the Republic like highly skilled member of the Académie of the Lynxes.

In 1995, it is named at the Feltrinelli Price.

He wrote more than 500 titles between studies and monographs.

The books of its library were offered to the Sienan University by his/her son with his death.
