Enrique Fernández Arbós
Enrique Fernández Arbós is a Violoniste, Leader and Spanish Compositeur , born with Madrid, the December 24th 1863 and deceased with Saint-Sebastien, the June 2nd 1939.
Biography
It was formed with the Real Conservatorio of Madrid with Jesús de Monasterio, with which it will establish a close relationship. In 1876, it gains the First Price of Violon of the Academy; having obtained a purse of the infante Isabel de Borbón there Borbón , it goes in 1877 to Brussels, where it continues studies of improvement and virtuosity with Henri Vieuxtemps, as well as composition with Kufferath (disciple of Mendelssohn) and Gevaert. It meets Isaac Albéniz (of which it will carry out the orchestation of the continuation Iberia ). In 1879, it obtains the First Price and the gold medal of the class of violin and the Honorary Mention in the class of composition.In 1880, it goes to Berlin, to study with Joseph Joachim. It is established in this city and begins with the Philharmonic orchestra from Berlin, from which it was First violin during several years. It carried out many rounds as soloist in France, in Spain, with the the United Kingdom and the the United States. In 1888, it turns over to Madrid as soloist of the Orchestra of the Sociedad de Conciertos of Madrid which Tomás Bretón directs, and the following year it founded in this city the Sociedad de Música de Cámara. Teaching with the Conservatory of Madrid and that of Hamburg, in 1894 it is named professor of Violon Royal College off Music with London, place which it occupies until in 1916, when it has to occupy the post of professor of violin of the Conservatoire of Madrid. For this period it déploit an intense activity of concert performer, as well as soloist as like member of the quartet as it forms with Isaac Albéniz, Rafael Gálvez and Agustín Rubio.
In 1903, it is named first violin of the Symphony orchestra of Boston and in 1904 leader of the Gran Casino of San Sebastián , and, this same year, it came to direct the Symphony orchestra of Madrid, from which he will be the first titular chief. With this formation, it carried out rounds in Spain, Europe and America and obtained an international reputation as leader. But it does not give up its work of concert performer and constitutes the Quartuor Arbós , with the participation, inter alia, of Julio Francés, the Pianiste Portuguese Jose Viana da Motta or the Violoncelliste Juan Ruiz Casaux. It also directs the Symphony orchestra of Boston during one season. In 1905, it founds the company in concerts The Concert Club with London. The international activity of Arbós as chief continued during years with concerts with Paris, Rome, Moscow, Budapest, Bordeaux, Lisbon, Winterthour, Cleveland, New York, etc
It is one of the principal representatives of the Spanish school of violin.
