Enrico Cecchetti

Enrico Cecchetti (to pronounce tʃeketti ) is a Danse ur, Chorégraphe, Ballet master and pedagog Italy N born with Rome the June 21st 1850 and died in Milan the November 13rd 1928.

Biography

Child of dancers, Enrico Cecchetti appears for the first time on scene with the five years age. He studies with Florence and made there his professional beginnings in 1868. He dances then in several town of Europe and of the United States and occurs with Saint-Pétersbourg in 1874. First dancer with the Scala of 1885 to 1887, it turns over then to Saint-Pétersbourg and dance in the ballets of Lev Ivanov before becoming repeater in 1892.

Choreographer, with Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, of Cinderella (1893), it teaches the Ballet dancing at the school of the imperial Theaters as of 1896. Of 1911 with 1921, he is the main teacher of the Russian Ballets of Diaghilev, and interprets it several roles ( Petrouchka , Shéhérazade , the Bird of fire , the gold Cock ).

As pedagog, he teaches in the company of Anna Pavlova, opens a school with London in 1918 and Italy in 1925.

Cecchetti is regarded as one of the largest pedagogs of the ballet dancing. It creates its own educational system, which it consigns in its book has off Manual Theory and Practice off Classical Theatrical Dancing (1922), written in collaboration with Stanislas Idzikowski. The “Cecchetti method” combines science of the movement and rhythmic rigor, privileging the fluidity of the movement and work around the center of gravity.
