Enophtalmy

The enophtalmy is a Rétrusion behind Eye-ball inside the Orbite, with an eye-ball of normal volume. It is the opposite symptom of the Exophtalmie.

Pathogenesis

It can result:
  • is of an increase in orbital osseous volume: fracture for example.
  • is of a reduction in the orbital contents (excluded sphere): senile enophtalmy.
  • is of an intra-orbital retraction of the eye, the eye like being attracted towards the interior.

In certain animals, it can be the sign of a Déshydratation.
