Enna

Enna ( Sicilian Castrugiuvanni in ) is a Italian city in the province of the same name in Sicily on the Mont San Giuliano.

History

  • 210 av. J.C. : massacre inhabitants of Enna during the Second Punic War
  • 135-132 av. J.C. : revolt slaves exploited in the Latifundia (servile Guerre)
  • 859: the Arabs seize the fort.
13th century: Frederic II makes build a new castle.

Monuments

  • Castello di Lombardia (13th century)
It is one of largest and important castles of the Sicily .la Torre Pisana is the principal tower. Inside, there is a beautiful theater.
  • Duomo: begun in 1307, supplemented with 16th and 17th centuries, it is magnificiently decorated.

  • Alessi Museum: currencies, paintings and treasure of goldsmithery of the cathedral (17th century)

  • Torre di Federico: it is the principal tower of the city, and it was also the royal palace of the summer of the king Federico II of Svevia. It is high 24 Mr.
