Enigmatic variations

enigmatic Variations is a Play of Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, created with the Théâtre Marigny, with Paris, in March 1996.

Synopsis

On the island of Rösvannöy, placed in Sea of Norway, the writer and Nobel Prize of literature Abel Znorko only live. It accommodates with shots a journalist whom it however invited, Erik Larsen. Larsen starts to question Znorko not very co-operative on last novel of this one, which consists of correspondence between writer and woman unknown, which is perhaps the person to whom is dedicated the book, “H.M.”.

Gradually, with the wire of the consents of the two men, two paradoxical visions of the love between a woman and a man take shape: the Passion short but memorable vis-a-vis the Love faithful and continuous.

Comments

The part was created with the Théâtre Marigny, with Paris, in March 1996. The setting in scene was carried out by Bernard Murat, with Alain Delon in the role of Abel Znorko and Francis Huster in that of Erik Larsen.

The title and the music used with the course the part is that of the British type-setter Edward Elgar, the Variations on an original topic , known in English under the name of Enigma Variations because of the enigmas posed by the author on his work.

Enigmatic variations was enormously taken again since its creation by companies amateurs and professional. Only in Germany, enigmatic Variations gave place to more than 30 productions.

And only in Chambéry, Capital of Savoy (73), in 2006-2007, the part is taken again successfully by the Boards with Voice, company amateur based in Chambéry which occurs in Rhone-Alps area and like by the company xyz, company of joining together theater in efflorescence of the actors and the musicians of the Chambérien basin.

Concerning Chambéry, it should besides be known that the author, Eric Emmanuel Schmitt, was itself professor of philosophy at the University of Savoy and there has even founded in 1993 the Theater of University research of Chambéry, studied Théâtre which perdure still today and from which result Znorko and Larsen from the company xyz.
