Enguerrand VII of Coucy

Enguerrand VII of Coucy (1339 - 1397), lord of Coucy, Marle, Fère - on-Oise, of Crécy-on-Greenhouse, Oisy, count of Soissons and Bedford in England. Wire of Enguerrand VI, it is only seven years old when his/her father dies in the Bataille of Crécy in 1346.
Ten years later, in 1356, Enguerrand VII is present at the Bataille of Poitiers, which sees the disaster of the king de France Jean II the Good. It is even indicated there, among other lords of its row to be used as guarantee with the ransom of Jean II, retained captive by the Prince Noir. After punishhaving severely punished on its field the Jacquerie of 1358, it goes to Italy and Germany to the head of an army to try to obtain the Austrian heritage of his/her Catherine mother of Austria girl of Léopold Ier of Austria. The operation having failed, Coucy will preserve the memory of vain equipped by creating the Ordre with the Crown , symbolized by a reversed crown. In 1382 it is in Paris, where it helps to repress the Révolte of Maillotins, which had been raised to protest against an indirect tax. Sent of king de France, it negotiates with the duke Jean IV of Brittany, the king of Spain, Savoy and Genoa, then embarks for the coasts of Africa to the continuation of the Barbaresques. In Coucy, where it returns after each voyage, it will embellish the castle of Enguerrand III and will in particular arrange the vast rooms of the Valiant knights and Preuses, doubling the fortress of an avoided palate of the graces of the blazing Gothic. It also will buy the town of Ham to Marie de Ham.
Descendant of prestigious crusaders, Enguerrand VII decides to organize a forwarding against the Turks with the emperor Sigismond of Luxembourg. The Christian armies are defeats with Bataille of Nicopolis, the 25 or on September 28th 1396, by the sultan Bayazid Ier. Taken along in captivity in Bithynie, he dies of his wounds the following year.
Marie de Coucy, her oldest daughter succeeds to him Coucy. After the death of Henri de Bar, her husband, it sold for 400 thousand books the seigniory of Coucy and its dependences Folembray, Saint-Aubin, Fère, Saint-Gobin, Chatellier, Saint-Lambert, Marle, Acy Gerny and others with the duke Louis of Orleans and younger brother of Charles VI, in 1400. The second house of Coucy does not exist any more.
