General presentation

The " billiards anglais" or 8 Pool is an alternative of the Billard being played on a table of 1,85m on 0,93m, smaller than standard American billiards. The balls are consequently reduced.

It is played with that one calls a billiard cue and a chalk or blue.

The goal being quite simply to return the balls of its group and to finish by the black one. The first which puts the black one after having returned its balls with gained the sleeve.

The 8 Pool is played with 16 balls:

white a ball known as ball of shock .
a numbered black ball 8.
7 red balls and 7 yellow balls.

Outline of the rules of the EUKPF

Beginning of the part

The balls will be gathered in a triangle and had way such as the black one will be placed on the intersection of the 2 diagonals between the pockets of the bottom and those of the medium (side opposed to that of the " D").

The player who will begin the part will be determined by pulling with the band: Two balls placed at row height of the " D " , simultaneous shooting of the two players towards the band top to return to more close to the first band of bottom (towards oneself). If the trajectory of a ball is deviated by a pocket, pulling is to be remade. Gaining pulling will be able to open the part or to force its adversary to do it. With the following part, the sportsman not having broken will break in his turn. Within the framework of a competition by teams, to follow if it is necessary the order indicated by the sheet of match.

The player opening the play or " cassant" will be able to place the white ball where good seems to him inside the " D" layout on the carpet (the center of white will not have to exceed the layout of the D).

The player opening the play will owe empocher a ball or to make so that to the minimum four balls other than the white one will touch one or more bands. If it fails (nonvalid breakage), the triangle will have to be reformed and its adversary will take the hand while profiting from a free shooting after which it will have to announce its color, follow-up of a visit. - E. The player having carried out breakage will have imperatively to announce the color which it chooses before the play does not continue, including: - When no ball is empochée during breakage - When one or more balls (whatever their color) are empochées during breakage - When a fault is made during breakage (except nonvalid breakage), and before passing the hand to its adversary

In all the cases, the color announced by the player will remain his until the end of the part.

If a player empoche the black ball number 8 by breaking, even if it profits from a free shooting following a fault of the adversary, the part is rejouée immediately by the same player. No penalty will be inflicted even if a fault is made during the shooting.

If a player empoche legally one or more balls, it will be able to continue to play until during a shooting: - It empoche not a ball of its group - It makes a fault.

The combination of a shooting is valid only if the played white ball touches in first one of the balls belonging to the group of color of the player (except case 6b).

Constantly a player has the right of empocher one or more balls of the group of his adversary if the two following conditions are met during the same shooting: - The white ball touches initially a ball of its own group. - One or more balls of its group are empochées.

Course of the part

Faults:

Empocher the white ball.

To touch, using the white ball, a ball of the unfavourable group before touching one of the balls of its group of color.

To play the white one which does not touch any ball.

To make jump the white ball over a ball or the part of a ball before the white ball did not touch a ball.

To touch the black ball number 8 with the white one at the time of the first contact whereas the player did not empoché yet all the balls of his group.

Empocher a ball of the unfavourable group only (but one can empocher a ball of its group and an unfavourable ball on the same shooting)

To make leave a ball the surface of play:

If the black ball number 8 or one ball of color leaves the surface of play, this one must be replaced on the initial site of the black ball or with nearest without touching another ball on the axis connecting this center point of the " D".

If the white ball leaves the surface of the play, this one must be replaced inside the limits of the " D" layout on the carpet

Except play all the balls are known as resting elsewhere than on slate covered with the carpet (a ball can roll on the tape).

To touch a ball with a clothing or part of the body.

Not to have, for the player, at least a foot in contact with the ground.

To play or touch with the tail another ball that the white one.

To play when it is not its turn.

To play before all the balls are not stopped.

To play before one or more balls were repositioned.

To play the white ball with part of the tail other than its process.

To strike the white ball more once with the billiard cue.

Not to clearly announce the color which one chooses

to make a fault with breakage

Poussette.

To make move a ball of color or the black ball number 8 when this one is stuck to the white one.

No the band made by the white one or the ball of color after impact. (official rules)

PENALTIES ACCORDING TO ALL FAULTS

After any fault Ci above, the following player can play the white ball from where it rests or to reposition it in the " D" and to apply the point. To replace the white ball in the " D" do not constitute a shooting or a visit.

After a fault in the course of part or with breakage, the following player profits from a " shooting libre" during which it will be able, by playing the white ball: - To touch or empocher one or more yellow or red balls. - To touch the black ball number 8. - Empocher the black ball number 8 if it empoché before all the balls of its group.

After having played the " shooting libre" , and if it did not make a fault, the player has a visit then.
