Englebert of Marck

Englebert of Marck , dead the August 25th 1368, was wire of Engelbert II of Marck, count of Marck, and Mathilde d' Arenberg. It was prince-bishop of Liege of 1345 with 1364, then archbishop of Cologne of 1364 with 1368.

In Liege, it had succeeded in his uncle Adolphe of Marck. It crushes the militia of the revolted cities with Tourinne (northern of Huy) in 1347. From 1361, it takes the title of count de Looz and militarily occupies this territory which will be definitively annexed to the Principauté of Liege in 1366. Under its reign the Black Death prevails with Liege.
