------------------------------- It is in the sixth edition (1835) of its Dictionary which the French Academy modified in - nts the plural of the words in - NT that one wrote hitherto - NS .

Attachment with the old C-W communication in - NS was initially the fact of the legitimists mediums opposed to the king Louis-Philippe {{Ier}} and one can meet the form enfans until in 1918.

The Academy has in fact varied much for the plural of the words in - NT , therefore for the word child :

The form enfans is explained by the fact why the plural of child was enfanz in Former French where Z initially marked about as in German had ended up being simplified in /s/ in the pronunciation then in the writing.
