Endowed

The Doua is a university campus , located on the commune of Villeurbanne, in the North-East of the agglomeration Lyons, bordered by the park of the Gold Head (western), the the Rhone and the Parc of Feyssine (northern/north-eastern), Villeurbanne and the 6e  district of Lyon (southern).

It constitutes the greatest university site of the Lyons agglomeration, gathering mainly three schools of engineers: INSA Lyon, the Institute of sciences and technology of engineer de Lyon (ISTIL) and CPE Lyon, the university Lyon I (Claude Bernard), and different IUT.

The site accommodates many students in its residences: the capacity of reception is of 3200 beds in the 10 residences of the INSA (2700 beds currently during the restoration of the one of them), 1000 beds in the 2 residence halls managed by CROUS, and of many others in the private residences.

Lastly, the campus has multiple services of restoration (two university canteens: Puvis de Chavannes and Jussieu), but also of places of relaxations (sports equipment, bars, theaters…).

In the east of the campus a large military cemetery of the Second world war is where foreign soldiers come are buried to fight in France.

Endowed was regarded for a long time as a small town in the city. For a few years, the town hall of Villeurbanne has endeavoured to open the campus on outside. As example, the barriers were removed, and the streets of the campus were named.

This campus is served by the line of tram T1.

Endowed is also one of the principal sites of Lyons research with nearly 1600 researchers working in fields such as the Mathématiques, the Physique, the Chimie, the Biologie, the Informatique…

The interconnection of the various entities present on the campus of Doua is carried out by the network Rocad.
