Encyclopedia off Islam

The Encyclopedia off Islam ( I.E.(internal excitation) ) is an encyclopedia covering all the aspects of the Islamic Civilization and the Histoire of Islam.

She is regarded by the academics as being the work of reference in the field of the Islamic studies.

Editions

I.E.(internal excitation) has three versions. The first ( EI1 ) was published in three volumes plus a supplement of 1913 to 1938 in editions English E, German E and French E. A shortened version was published in 1953 pennies the title of Shorter Encyclopedia off Islam (SEI) which covers mainly the law and the religion. The current edition, the second edition of the Encyclopedia off Islam ( EI2 ) was started in 1954 and was finished only recently. It is published by the company Dutchwoman Brill Academic Publishers and is available in English and French.

The third edition is the online edition, which exists since 2002.

In addition to one important increase in the contents, the second edition of I.E.(internal excitation) differs from the first because it integrated work of Moslem researchers originating in the Middle East.
