Encyclopedia Judaica
LEncyclopédie Judaica is a Encyclopédie in 26 volumes written in English and tackling many subjects having milked with the Jewish people and his faith, the Judaïsme. It recovers various Jewish sections of the culture and the civilization, from of which their history through the various times, the culture, holidays, the language, the writing and lesson religious.
Its first publication, printed with Jerusalem, goes back to 1971-1972 and comprised 16 volumes. Between 1972 and 1994, ten new volumes supplemented the collection, enriching by supplements the encyclopedia by articles on the recent events, which carried from now on to 15 million words and 25.000 articles the richness of the work. According to the persons in charge, that represents thirty years of studies and research and mobilized nearly 2.200 contributors and 250 writers in the world.
A shorter version in Russian language was launched to the beginning of the year 1970 but the publication became finally independent and counts from now on, in 2005, eleven volumes and three supplements.
Nevertheless, a version CD of the Judaica Encyclopedia was born, being based on the funds of the second edition paper.
