Enclavement

The enclavement of the presentation is today an extremely rare complication of the Accouchement. It results from an incompatibility between the diameter required by the presentation of the child and the diameter of the maternal basin. This incompatibility which must be not only been unaware of by the obstetrician, but also neglected during a certain time. Still observed at the 19th century during not supervised childbirth, one does not meet any today any more.

If the presentation of the child is incompatible with a childbirth by vaginal way (presentation of the face for example) and if one lets evolve/move work without nothing to make, the force of the uterine contractions leads to a “compaction” of the bones of the fetal cranium, which ends up being wedged in the basin, without being able to progress more. It goes without saying one leads to dead of the child, then with the rupture of the uterus and maternal death by Hémorragie and Infection péritonéale.

The medicalisation of the childbirth makes it possible to sufficiently early diagnose the incompatibility between fetal volume and the maternal basin, and the decision of Césarienne is made well before this fetal complication low register does not occur.
