Empty Spaces

Empty Spaces is a song of the British group of progressive Rock Pink Floyd. It appears on the album The Wall left in 1979, and, like the majority of the songs of the album, was written by Roger Waters. The song was taken again by Mushroomhead.

Composition

The song, in G major on a measurement four times (4/4), has a long introduction. Around the first minute, the ton of the song becomes heavier. Shortly after a Message with back at the bottom of the soundtrack is; when it finishes, the true words start. The song finishes abruptly: the following track of the album, Young Lust , follows immediately. For this reason, they are always played radio together.

Analyzes words

Like the other songs of The Wall , Empty Spaces tells part of the history of Pink, the main character of the album. Pink from now on adult and is married, but him and his wife has evil to communicate ( the empty spaces where we used to talk ). He wonders how to supplement his wall ( how should I supplements the wall? ).

Confusion

Empty Spaces lent a light confusion during the recording of the album. The time which offered four faces of a double 33 turns was insufficient to present complete work. In was the beginning, this song called What Shall We Do Now? and was much longer. Roger Waters decided to shorten it to reduce the first disc of the double album, which gave Empty Spaces . However, What Shall We Do Now appears in the film Pink Floyd The Wall and the concerts of the round promotant the album in 1980-1981, present on Is There Anybody out There? The Wall Live 1980-81 , the album in '' live '' which followed.

Hidden message

Before the sung section, there is a message hidden on the left side of the Mixage. If she is heard normally, the sentence does not have any direction. If she is played back, one can hear:

Congratulations. You' ve just discovered the secret message. Please send your answer to Old Pink, care off the Funny Farm, Chalfont…
Roger! Carolyn' S one the phon!

Right before the " Congratulations… " , Roger Waters says something, possibly nonsense.
