Emmy Destiny
Emmy Destiny , of its true name Emmy Kittl, born the February 26th 1878 with Prague, at the time in Austria-Hungary, and dead the January 28th 1930 with Ceske Budejovice in Czechoslovakia, is a Cantatrice of opera.
She learns initially the violin, then the song with the mezzo Maria Löwe-Destiny of which she adopts the name by recognition. She begins with Dresden, then with Berlin. She excels in the Italian repertory, but also in the Wagnerian repertory, and becomes protected from Cosima Wagner. She sings the title role during the creation of Salome of Richard Strauss. She has the best tenors like partner and Caruso the proposal, but she prefers to share her life with Dinh Gilly, a baritone free-Algerian.
She gains her greater successes in London and New York. She returns to sing in Prague the day before the War 1914-18 in the patriotic opera of Smetana, Libuse . The Austrian authorities assign it with residence for the duration of the war. It starts to write a dramatic part, Rahel . Czechoslovakia become independent, it takes the name of Destinnová . It amounts on scene and continuous occurring in concert until 1920.
Emmy Destinn was a dramatic soprano of strong personality, with the powerful and major voice, with the captivating stamp, the whole crowned by a rare expressive intensity.
