Geography

Emmerin is a common French, located in the department of the Northern and the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

Emmerin is located at the western south of the suburbs inhabitant of Lille.

History

Emmerin is located at 7 km in the south of Lille

486: probable Birth of the village at the time of the baptème of Clovis (King of the Frank )

November 7th, 1104: a bubble sign written by the pope Pascal II mentions the name of the village of AMERIN (Name coming from Amerinium or meaning Ameringhem: field of AYMARD, a chief Frankly installed along the way of the monks.)

1303: Construction of a feudal castle per Jean de Namur, count de Flandre. This one was with the site of the mud tanks, close to the way of Health, (traces of a feudal mound)

1603: Henri IV (Henri de Bourbon) owner of the village sold it to Nicolas of Chastel of Howardries.

1641: Fire of the feudal castle.

1644: Construction of the Keller coffee held by Barthelemy WALLART. This building will be used later as Town hall.

Before 1789: the village is always divided into 2 strongholds and governs by 2 noble families:

> Emmerin Worsens, heart of the current village (180 families) is held by the county of Hainaut with the family Of HOUCHIN residing at Paris.

> Emmerin Chatellenie, including/understanding Ghermanez and the Suburb (80 families), under the governorship of Lille with the family of HESPEL residing at the castle of Ghermanez (Ets Capon today).

1790: Election of the first Mayor Louis DUPONT on February 11th, 1790.

1791: Union of Emmerin Worsens and Emmerin Chatellenie.

1840: Construction of the new church on the foundations of old threatening to crumble
