Emmeline Pankhurst
Emmeline Pankhurst is a British political woman, feminist.
Biography
Born in 1858 in Manchester, Emmeline Pankhurst militated for the Vote of the women in the the United Kingdom within the framework of the Liberal party, then in the Workers party. To give more weight to its claim, it creates in 1903 the Social and Political Female Union and militates in a spectacular way. It is helped of her two daughters, Christabel and Sylvia. The many demonstrations which it organizes like being connected with the standard lamps, causing fires in buildings, to make an hunger strike or to cut wire of the telegraphs, were worth to him to be stopped five times between 1908 and 1913. Released in 1914, it supports the effort of war and goes to the the United States to make propaganda in favor of the Alliés. It suggested with the women becoming nurses during the war.
She dies in London on June 13rd, 1928, ten years after the British women had obtained the right to vote (the 30 year old women and more only). The right to vote for the women as from 21 years will be obtained one month after its death.
