However, with starts second half-time, Sanon, left in against, eliminates Zoff and opens the score with the general surprise. But contrary to another famous Haitian goal, that of Joe Gaetjens in 1950, this goal will not be sufficient and the Italians carry it 3-1. Sanon is still to date the best striker of the history of the team of Haiti with 13 international goals.
