Emmanuel Gambardella

Emmanuel Gambardella , born the July 3rd 1888 with Sète and deceased the August 30th 1953 with Montpellier, was a French sports correspondent who became leading of Football. It thus chaired the “Commission of the Professional Championship of France” of the FF before the Second world war, then the Ligue (1944 - 1953) and the Fédération (1949 - 1953), thus cumulating during four years the president's functions the FF and of the League. It was determining in 1932 for the adoption of the professional statute in France. The national cut of the juniors bears his name since 1954: Cut Gambardella.

This Sétois practiced football at the regional level in the club of the ACE Cettoise of 1904 with 1910. It sat at the regional committee of USFSA at the sides of Georges Bayrou, president of FC Sète. The two men quickly become friendly and Gambardella one to support green and white club of the singular Island. It must leave its functions in 1910 because it carries out its military service then. The War occurs in 1914, and it passes thus nearly seven years under the flags with only a few months of civil life between its military service and its mobilization. It was appointed secretary of FC Sète then honorary president of the Montpellier Université Club as of the Années 1920.
