Emmanuel Fleury

Emmanuel Fleury , born on June 18th, 1900, in the department of Vienna, dead on March 14th, 1970 in Paris, is a personality of the French Syndicalisme of the postal and telecommunications authorities, Parisian Resistance and French Communist party.

It had an in August 1944 crucial role, in the control of the strike of the Parisian post-office employees, which accompanied the Release by the Capital. Factor of the Stations, it was city council man of Paris of 1936 with 1965. From 1961 with its death, succeeding Henri Gourdeaux he was President of the National federation of the workers of the postal and telecommunications authorities - CGT. This honorary title marked the notoriety of the trade unionist.

Biographical notes

  • Enters to the postal and telecommunications authorities in 1923, like factor. Named at the central post office of the 20th district of Paris, there remains all its career there, when he was not revoked or was not sanctioned. In the same way, Communist elect of the popular district Saint-Fargeau in 1936, it will become a figure of the Municipal council of Paris.
  • Adherent of SFIO in 1919, it is majority which founds the following year the French Communist party.
  • Militant trade unionist of the postal and telecommunications authorities, it is revoked in 1929 to have been one of the leaders of a strike of Parisian factors. It is reinstated in the Administration only in 1936.
  • In the postal federation of CGTU, it is member of the national secretariat as from 1930. At the time of the reunification in 1935-1936, he is elected with the head of the Parisian Trade union of his administrative category, the employees, i.e. the factors and the chargers of the stations.
  • Resistant within the movement national Release postal and telecommunications authorities, it negotiates on a purely trade-union basis a possible clandestine reunification of the postal federation, burst after the rallying with the Collaboration of several of its former leaders. It meets in 1943 the former post-office employee confederated Leon Digat and makes appear the newspaper the postal Federation.
  • With Fernand Piccot, it directs the strike of the Parisian post-office employees in August 1944. It runs up hard against old trade-union confederated postal and telecommunications authorities, in favor of the trève of the engagements.
  • Member of the central Commission of purification of the postal and telecommunications authorities, it shows inflexibility towards those which it judges to have done the play of Pétain. In that, it does not contribute to appaisement of the tensions which have course in the trade unionism of the postal and telecommunications authorities between 1944 and 1947.
  • Finding its seat at the Municipal council of Paris in 1945, it is during twenty years the communist spokesperson of the districts of the Parisian East. It sits at the General advice of the Seine.
  • Amateur of the history of popular Paris, it takes an active part in the Association of the Friends of the Commune of Paris.
