Emmanuel Boileau de Castelnau (baron), born with Nimes in 1857 and died in 1923 is a Alpiniste French winner of Meije.

He discovers the mountain in the the Pyrenees at the 13 years age, climbing Maladeta and Aneto.

In 1875, it meets for the first time Henri Duhamel, creator of the alpine Club French, and takes part with him in a forwarding on Mont Blanc. This one informs him of its desire to make a success of the rise of Meije. The company is thus tried by the northern face with the guides Alexandre Tournier, François and Leon Simond but forwarding is blocked by a too perilous passage in a formed corridor of black ice and grésil. They reach this year only the central peak.

In 1877, it tries a new forwarding with the guide Pierre Gaspard and his/her son by the southern slope, sees open the previous year per Henri Duhamel. He cross with difficulty the wall that Duhamel thought insuperable and on August 16th, 1877 reach the top: Meije is overcome.

Emmanuel Boileau de Castelnau is the man of only one victory: after this rise, it stops its forwardings.
