Emma Byrne (born the June 14th 1979) is an Irish player of Football . She currently plays for the English club of Arsenal Ladies FC but also for the team of Ireland of female football. She plays station of Goalkeeper.

Career

Byrne joined Arsenal in 1998 coming from St Patrick' S Athletic and is since the guard number 1 of Arsenal. She was elected Joueuse of Arsenal of the year twice, in 2003 and 2005.

In April 2007, Byrne finally becomes champion of Europe with Arsenal by beating the Swedish team of Umea IK of the female UEFA Cup by 1 goal with 0. At the time of the two turns of this final, Emma Byrne carried out many rescues which largely contributed to the victory of its team.

Byrne is also a key component of the team of Ireland of female football. It was selected with 50 recoveries.
