Emilie Simon (born the July 17th 1978 with Montpellier) is an author, Compositeur and interprets French music electro-pop.

Biography

Born from a father Sound engineer, Emilie Simon grew with Montpellier. She studies the lyric Chant with the Conservatoire national of area of Montpellier during seven years. She declared in connection with this experiment: “They made me evil. There is much discipline, of austerity. A child needs attention, love, it wants to learn the music by play. ” She studied musicology with the university Paris-Sorbonne and electronics with IRCAM. She has a DEA in modern music.

Musical career

In 2003 it leaves an album entitled Emilie Simon , rewarded by a Victoire for the music in the category Electronic coffee-table book in 2004. This first album is produced by Barclay.

the Walk of the emperor

January 10th, 2005, Emilie Simon leaves a second album which will be also the Original soundtrack of documentary film, Walk the emperor

In 2006, it gains a Victoire of the music in the category “Original soundtrack of Film” for the Walk of the emperor . The same year, it is named for the César of the best music written for a film.

In spite of the replacement of the original soundtrack of film in her American version, Emilie Simon all the same left this album (under the name of March off the Empress ) to the the United States on April 3rd, 2007.

Vegetable

March 6th 2006, Emilie Simon leaves its third album, heading Végétal . This album is directed towards the vegetable universe. In 2007 it obtains the Victoire of the music 2007 in the category “Album of electronic musics/groove/dance of the year”.

The Flower Book

Whereas the Walk of the emperor was not retained for the American version of the documentary one, Emilie Simon leaves in end 2006 The Flower Book , distributed only to the the United States; it is a compilation of titles drawn from its first three albums as well as new versions.

In Olympia

Beginning 2007, leaves the first Live of Emilie Simon, In Olympia , recorded in September 2006 with the Olympia. Available in version audio CD and video DVD, this live comprises songs being reproduced on its 3 albums as well as a resumption of a song of Nirvana, " As ace you are".

Concerts

On scene it is accompanied by Cyrille Brissot (of IRCAM) which directs the part programming and of Medhi Parisot then of Steffen Charron with the guitar.

July 1st 2005, within the framework of the Eurockéennes of Belfort, it gives an original concert in which takes part the Synfonietta of Belfort and groups it Percussion-Keyboards of Lyon. It works again then with this two whole at the time of a second concert, on January 19th 2006 with the Grand Rex with Paris.

It was the first part of the group Placebo of September 29th, 2006 until December 4th, 2006.
