Emilie Pennec

Emilie Pennec (the Garenne-Doves, December 31st, 1987 -) is a French gymnaste . It gained a gold medal with the Olympic Games of Athens of 2004.

Impassioned by the gymnastics, it starts to practice it at the seven years age. It is integrated into the US Creteil at its eleven years. Since, it is also involved with the France pole of INSEP to Paris with thirty hours of drive per week.

In 2002, it is selected to take part in the championships of Europe with Patras with the team of France junior (Marine Debauve, Gaëlle Richard, Coralie Chacon and Soraya Chaouch). Together they gained a bronze medal. Moreover, Pennec finishes 6th with the beam, and 8th with the finale of bars and ground.

Following these championships of Europe, Pennec takes part in the 11th international ones of France with Debauve Marine where it presents a new element: the twist with the Beam. But cannot take part in the finales because of its young age.

In 2003, Pennec takes part in the 12th international ones of France, the bars, the beam and the ground. It gains the 3rd place on the ground.

Then, the team of France for Anaheim was selected: Marine Debauve, Gaëlle Richard, Soraya Chaouch, Camille Schmutz, Nelly Ramassany and Emilie Pennec will represent the team of France. But in spite of their disappointing result, they were qualified for the Olympic Games of Athens.

At the time of the Massilia trophy, it allocates the first place to the asymmetric bars, in front of the world champion in title, Hollie Vise, and the number three world, Elizabeth Tweddle.

In 2004, its destiny darkens: a wound with the calf cut in full dash, cutting down its beginning of the season and delaying of as much its Olympic preparation. Emilie finds thus private the International ones of France, pre-Olympic tournament and national Championships. But it becomes Olympic champion of the asymmetric bars, with a note of 9,687 and one remarkable figure (the DEF), in front of the Russian Svetlana Khorkina, called the Queen of the bars.

September 27th, 2007, she announces via a press release that she puts an end to her career, not managing more to find her level of before her multiple wounds of 2006-2007, the last in date being a talonnade taken at the time of the international match of Vittel in the month of August 2007.
