Emile Poulat

Emile Poulat (born in 1920) is a Historien and Sociologue French.

Biographical elements

Director of studies to the School of the high studies in social sciences, he is also research director with the CNRS and historian of the contemporary Church. He is one of the founder members of the Group of sociology of the religions, director and member of the editorial boards of several reviews of which Politica hermetica . Its research carries surout on the conflict between catholic culture and modern culture in the history of contemporary Catholicism. It is specialized on the question of the modernistic crisis and was also interested in the Antimaçonnisme and the Laïcité. The majority of its last works were published at Berg International.
