Emile Oustalet
Jean-Frederic Emile Oustalet , born the August 24th 1844 with Montbeliard and dead the October 23rd 1905, is a zoologist French.
Its thesis relates to Recherches on the fossil insects of the tertiary grounds of France (1874) where he studies the fossils mainly Auvergne and neighborhoods of Aix-en-Provence. In 1873, it succeeds Jules Verreaux (1807-1873) as assistant Naturaliste with the national Muséum of natural history of Paris. In 1900, it occupies the pulpit of Mammalogie after the death of Alphonse Milne-Edwards (1835-1900).
It makes appear to the Birds of China… With an atlas of 124 boards, drawn and lithographed by Mr. Arnoul and colored with the brush (1877) with the father Armand David (1826-1900). It is him which studies and describes the 160 specimens brought back by Jean Dybowski (1856-1928) during his forwarding to the Congo.
Oustalet chairs the zoological Société of France in 1893.
