Emile Girardeau , born with Luçon on October 12th 1882, died with Paris on December 7th 1970 was a Engineer French.
In 1909, it establishes, in collaboration with Jacques Béthenod (which became member of the Academy of Science) the first radiotelegraphic connection in tropical countries, of Brazzaville to Loango.
In 1910, it founds the Radioelectric French company (S.F.R.) which was to ensure the first rise of 1 ' French industry in the field of the Radioelectricity. The success of the original technique used for the first radiocommunication in the Tropics made it possible the S.F.R. to secure an international activity as of before 1914.
At the beginning of the First World War, it is mobilized with the central Establishment of military radio telegraphy, near the Colonel Ferrié). In 1915, it is affected by the general Joffre with the instruction, as regards radioelectricity, of the officers aviators to the Armies. In 1919, it is named knight of the Légion of Honor for services of war.
In 1921, it takes part in the Conférence of Washington, where it obtains the participation of France in the transoceanic connections and with the Far East.
In 1922, it proposes the creation of a public service of information and music, and creates the first private station of radio in France: Radiola. French broadcasting had been born.
It directs the Radioelectric Firm Frenchwomen (studies and radioelectric construction of material) and the General Company of Wireless telegraphy (CSF) (establishment of international radio channels) and it carries out negotiations in all the countries with which direct connections by radio telegraphy seem useful for France.
It creates the Research center techniques and techniques of the CSF, which develops in 1934 an electromagnetic detector, one of the first Radar S.
It builds in 1939 the Center Radar for the defense of Paris against planes, which it destroys in June 1940. At once the German invasion, it creates a new factory out of the occupied zone with Lyon and it establishes with Algiers, as of January 1941, a maintenance and building firm of material of transmissions. This factory rendered great services to the Forces of the free France. At the same date, being managing director of the Company the Radio-East, it places at the disposal of Free France of the station with Beirut.
In 1944, being put in report/ratio as of on June 7th with the Allied Forces of unloading, it receives command the mission of preparing the re-establishment of the radiocommunications. It arrives there within a very short time thanks to the use of an important material dissimulated at the enemy during the occupation.
It founds and chairs the National federation of the electronics industries .
He is elected member of the Académie of Navy in 1945, and member of the Academy of Science morals and political in 1954.
