Emile Ernault

Emile Ernault , born with Saint-Brieuc on July 24th 1852 and died in Saint-Brieuc on January 6th 1938, is a linguist who was interested much in the Breton and with theBreton one. He was also poet in Breton language, and member of the Gorsedd of Brittany.

He initially studied the dialect of Trégor, then the vannetais (he was not Breton-speaking of native tongue).

In 1908, the grammairien François Valley and the linguist Emile Ernault create the Agreement of the Breton writers which proposed a common orthography starting from the writing of Leon as improved by Gonidec.

He wrote also poetry into Breton, and is the author of a Breton cryptological Glossaire (erotic collection of vocabulary and Scatologique).
