Born May 1850 with Valleiry (Haute-Savoie), died on December 10th 1918, with Paris.
Doctor of medicine, Appointed, Senator, finally Minister, President of the Municipal council in 1889, it becomes appointed (republican socialist radical) in October of the same year.
Deputy of the the Seine of 1889 with 1897, appointed Haute-Savoie of 1897 with 1905, senator of the Haute-Savoie of 1905 with 1918, Minister for the Colonies from January 26th to November 1st 1895, Minister for the Navy from June 9th to 13rd 1914.
He voted in favor the law of separation of the Churches and the State on December 6th 1905.
He was the father of Camille Chautemps.
