Emile Boutroux

Etienne Emile Marie Boutroux (July 28th 1845 with Montrouge - November 22nd 1921 with Paris) is a Philosophe and historian of the French Philosophie .

Biography

After obtaining its doctorate in philosophy in 1874, Emile Boutroux teaches philosophy at the university of Montpellier, then at the university of Nancy, then with the National university in 1878, and finally with the Sorbonne starting from 1885.

He is elected member of political morals the Academy of Science and in 1898 and the French Academy in 1912.

In 1902, it is named director of the Fondation Thiers, become since the Fondation Dosne-Thiers.

It had, among its pupils, Henri Berr, Henri Bergson and Emile Durkheim. He married Alice Poincaré sister of the mathematician Henri Poincaré and have for wire the mathematician Pierre Boutroux ().
