Emile-Marie Bodinier

Emile-Marie Bodinier , born with Vaiges the February 21st 1842, died in its residence of Kouy-Yang, the February 2nd 1901, monk and botanist French.

Biography

It left in 1849 for Sablé, commune where his/her parents were going to hold the hotel of Notre-Dame . It left in 1862 the seminar of the Mans for that of the Foreign missions. It is ordered priest the December 17th 1864, and leaves for the foreign missions. It goes the following year to Kouy-Tchéou where it worked during 35 years and had the apostolic load of provicaire. In 1880, the Boisseau father wrote of him that it had had to arm his Christians to push back the attacks of the black Pavillons . It is sent near the ambassador plenipotentiary to Beijing where there remains some time.

Lieutenant de Vaulserre, meets it in 1899, and published in the Round the world tour (1901), the account of a voyage accomplished in 1899 to attract the trade of Kouy-Tchéou towards the Tonkin, and warm welcome and the useful information which it accepted from the missionaries and especially from the Bodinier Father. He is also recognized as botanist .
