Elyon Portrait

Elyon Portrait is a character of the cartoon W.I.T.C.H. and cartoon of the same name. It is one of the most interesting character of the series, because its somewhat complex role in season 1 withdraws a little Manichéisme caused by Phobos. It reappeared unfortunately little thereafter.

History

Elyon was born in the Obscure Zone from the Withdrawal of case, a universe parallel with the Earth, in the town of Méridian. It was the girl of the queen, and for this reason, the crown returned to him from right, because Méridian was to be gourvenée by a queen. But as it was not whereas a baby, his/her older brother, Phobos, taken the capacity as a regent and founded a true dictatorship. It desired to absorb the magic energy of his/her sister, but the nurse of this one managed to save it with the assistance of a couple of officers while taking it along on Earth. Elyon was raised by the couple in the world of human under the name of family of " Portrait". She was unaware of then very of Méridian and took the couple which had raised it for his/her parents. She grows normally in the town of Heatherfield, and bound friendship with a named young girl Cornélia Hale, which became his/her best friend, like with four other girls: Irma Lair, Hay Flax, and, a little later, Will Vandom and Taranee Cook. She developed also feelings for Matt, one of the boys of the school, but never acknowledged it to him.

But, one day, at the time of the ball of Halloween of its college, it became acquainted with Cédric, a strange bookseller, who was not other than an officer of Méridian to the service of Phobos. Cédric told with the young girl her origins, by modifying however some details (it him cachat the fact that Phobos was a tyrant and that he had wanted to kill it) to make it return in Méridian. It also revealed to him that his/her best friends was not other than the guardians of Kandrakar, and thus enemies of Méridian. Elyon reniat his/her parents adoptive, who were imprisoned in the prison of Méridian, and joined the cause of his/her brother. It intervened on several occasions in company of Cédric and Vathek to trap or fight the WITCH, in particular by imprisoning Taranée, which it brought to despair while making him believe that his/her friends forgot it. During this period, it acts like a frightening and cruel enemy, as dangerous as Cédric.

The things changed at the time of a combat between the WITCH and a group of inhabitants of Méridian in the library of Cédric. With the court of the battle, Will intervened in the favor of Cédric to save the life to him, and that reacts while attacking the guardian of the Heart. Elyon really does not react on the blow, and flees in Méridian with the officer of its brother, but it ends up reflecting, estimating that the behavior of Cédric had been unfair. Starting to suspect something, it decided to go incognito to Méridian to include/understand why the inhabitants of its world made a point so much of leaving the city. She thus discovered the misery of her people.

Whereas it was going to be imprisoned by guards of Phobos, which had not recognized it and believed to deal with country-woman, it was drawn from business by Cornélia, which had come in Méridian to discuss and reconcile themselves with his/her ex-best friend. Both thus discussed, and Elyon included/understood at which point it had been horrible. Caleb intervened then and explained the true version of its origin to him.

Not knowing more which told truth, Elyon decided to take a third opinion in account, namely that of his/her adoptive parents. It went to visit them in prison, and learned from them why it had been removed with her brother.

From now on, Elyon started to become aware of the truth. She was wary more and more of Cédric, with which she taken her distances, and decided to contact the WITCH to require of them of the assistance. Fearing to be rejected if it went there itself, it contacted initially the rebels and obtained from Vathek that he warns Will. Malgrés its fears, the guardians accepted: they helped his/her adoptive parents (as well as the totality of the prisoner of Phobos) to escape, and carried out a plan to save it trap that Phobos had tended to him. Méridian revolted, and, after multiple complications, Phobos and Elyon clashed in duel of magic. Although Elyon largely has the advantage, Phobos left victorious while cheating, and imprisoned his/her sister. But the captivity did not last, because the WITCH, after having overcome Cédric, released Elyon and gave him the Crown of Light, which made of it the new queen of Méridian.

Hardly become queen, Elyon the USA of her capacities to give again in Méridian magic energies absorptive by Phobos, and undertaken to repair the damage. She chooses to remain there to ensure her new position, and left the WITCH, with which she finally and were definitively reconciled.

Later, Elyon returned temporarily in Heatherfield to return visit to his/her friend and to pass a little time with it. But she was again imprisoned by Phobos, become Oracle under the identity of Endarno. To prevent that Phobos does not seize its capacity, it separated some with the assistance from Yan Lin, which entrusted this capacity to Will. The guardian of the Heart gave a little later this capacity in the Crown of Light. when Elyon was released, the Crown was given again to him, and it recovered all its capacities thus. She turned over to Méridian once Phobos demolishes.

Description

Elyon has the green eyes, the fine features and the fair-chataîns hair with braids on each side of the face. It is rather small, even for its age. It wore usually black and gray clothing when it lived in Heatherfield, but in Méridian, it more generally wears a clear blue dress, sometimes surmounted of a coarse brown coat to pass unperceived.

Character

Elyon has a normally pleasant and generous temperament, although it behaved in a cruel way when it was handled by Cédric. It is also crafty one and skilful, undoubtedly makes had with the fact that Cédric has was used to him as professor. Cornélia allotted to him a leaning megalomaniac in an adventure no-claims bonus, when she says that the rustle of the sheets in the wind evokes a crowd to him applauding it, but this leaning does not seem visible when she becomes queen, because she seems more distressed than another thing.

Capacities

Although it is not a guardian of Kandrakar, Elyon is an extremely powerful magician. She has capacities higher even than those of Phobos, which make of her the Light of Méridian. One has could see it using his capacities in various ways: it created a water monster, launched attacks of energy, imprisoned the WITCH in a table… With an occasion, one could also see it changing appearance, although, contrary to the other inhabitants of Méridian, his real appearance is not that of a monster, but of human. It specified in an episode that it was Cédric which had learned how to him to make use of its capacities.
