Possibly, the number of sold specimens exceeded the course of the million and the album became gold disc. Seven of the songs had been recorded at the first sessions of the singer with RCA, in January 1956. The five others came from bands recently acquired by RCA, produced in 1954 & 1955, with the studio of Sun.

Memphis, 1954
I Coils You Because; Blue Moon; I' L Never Let You Go (Little Darlin'); Just Because.
Sun studio, Memphis, Tennessee. We are the July 5th 1954, in evening, and Elvis Presley, accompanied by Scotty Moore with the guitar and Bill Black with the double bass, did not record yet That' S All Right (SUN 209), which will be done a little later this evening. In addition to the R&B, the blues, the gospel and the C&W, the singer have also another musical genre in blood: the sentimental ballade. One of its idols is Dean Martin besides. Among the songs of this repertory, Harbor Lights , a tube for Bing Crosby in 1950, and I Coils You Because , a country of Leon Payne that Presley sings in a way more pop than country, are recorded. Sam Phillips, realizer of the studio and owner of the Sun Records, is not very impressed by what he hears. Five catches are recorded for I Coils You Because , but the song will remain new during almost two years. For his inclusion in the album Elvis Presley , one will use a published version, that is to say an intake #3 and another of the catch #5. Several years later, the catch #2 will be available on compilation Elvis - has Legendary Performer, vol. 1 (1974) and all the catches will be included in the album The Complete Sun Sessions (1987). The July 6th, or a few days later, according to the sources, the song Blue Moon Of Kentucky is recorded (SUN 209), which will become the face B of simple the That' S All Right . The August 19th, a session produces only one song, Blue Moon , old standard of jazz written by the Rodgers tandem and Hart (on July 6th, they tested first once with the song, but nothing satisfactory left the exercise). Presley uses here falsetto between verses (technique that it will seldom use), by omitting the verse which is usually used as bridge (the part “And then there suddenly appeared before me… ”) The trio does not have anybody with the battery yet: Presley follows the rate/rhythm with the back of his guitar. Following its exit on the album and into simple in 1956, the service of Presley will shock some critics and fans of jazz, and some will shout with the sacrilège. Même Rodgers will try to convince the radio stations not to play the version of Presley. the 10 or on September 11th, one records Tomorrow Night , I Gift' T Care If The Sun Don' T Shine (SUN 210), Satisfied , Good Rockin' Tonight (SUN 210), I' L Never Let You Go (Little Darlin') and Just Because . I' L Never Let You Go (Little Darlin') is a song of Jimmy Wakely (1941), sung in the same style that I Coils You Because , except for 16 last measurements, the trio having, without preventing, changed rate/rhythm into doubling the tempo. Just Because , in an original manner a country & western of Shelton Brothers, becomes a Rockabilly here. In November or in December is recorded the songs Milkcow Blues Boogie and You' Re has Heartbreaker (both, SUN 215).

Memphis, 1955
Trying To Get To You .
Always accompanied by Scotty Moore and Bill Black (and sometimes by Jimmie Lott or Johnny Bernero to the battery), Elvis Presley records, during 1955, the following songs: Baby, Let' S Play House (SUN 217), I' m Left, You' Re Right, She' S Gone (SUN 217), I Forgot To Remember To Forget (SUN 223), Mystery Train (SUN 223)… During the session which produced the two last of this list, Trying To Get To You , song R & B of an obscure group of Washington, D.C., Eagles (1954), is recorded for second once. A first attempt was put on ribbon in February without satisfaisant. result This time, one judges that this version is the good one, passion and a certain atmosphere of joy being with go, and Philips considers even to employ it for the next simple one of Presley. the trio is increased here by Johnny Bernero to the battery and another musician plates agreements with the piano, musician who one believes today to be Presley himself. One tries later to record the song When It Rains, It Really Pours , a blues, so that it is found opposite B the future. During a pause, Philips announces in Presley that it sold his contract. One does not continue the session, the heart not being plus. All the songs recorded with the studio of Sun are transferred there in the vaults from RCA. This one republishes the simple ones and hopes well to use the songs which were not the subject of an exit yet.

Nashville, 1956
I Got has Woman; Money Honey; I' m Counting One You.
January 10th: New company for the singer, new studio, former and new musicians (in addition to Moore and Black, are added Chet Atkins to the guitar, D.J. Fontana with the battery, Floyd Cramer with the piano, Gordon To store, Ben and Brock Speer for the vocal accompaniments and Steve Sholes with the realization, with the assistance of Atkins). waitings are large, the tension is palpable in the studio of Nashville. Which this young man with the insane paces will produce? But perhaps that the only one with being sure of him and being really excited was Presley himself. I Got has Woman , a song of Ray Charles, made already integral part of the concerts of Presley, Moore and Black during the year 1955 and one had even tried a recording at Sun. Energy is with go. One records several catches of the song, until the moment when Presley is completely satisfied. One can pass to the next song: Heartbreak Hotel , song written by Mae Axton and Tommy Durden which will become the first simple one of the singer for RCA (47-6420). Then comes Money Honey , a R & B composed by Jesse Stone and previously interpreted by Clyde McPhatter and the Drifters in 1953. Just like I Got has Woman , this song already belonged to their repertory for the scene. The following day, one records two ballades, at the request of Sholes, I Was The One , which will be found opposite B Heartbreak Hotel , and I' m Counting One You , semi-doo-wop, semi-country. The latter is composed by Don Robertson, beginning a long collaboration between the type-setter and the singer.

New York, 1956
The January 30th, at the request of Steve Sholes, one records Blue Sweden Shoes , of Carl Perkins, another foal of Sun Records. Its version has just appeared and starts to make noise. After some catches, the singer entrusts to Sholes which it can make better only Perkins. Pourtant, the song, with its faster rate/rhythm and its more dynamic introduction, will become during the years more synonymous with Elvis Presley than of Carl Perkins. Nevertheless, the version of Perkins will climb until the first position of the charter country of the Billboard and will reach the 2nd position of the pop charter ( Heartbreak Hotel of Presley did not reach the tops of the prize lists yet). What will cause a whole agitation among people of RCA and Steve Sholes itself wonders whether it engaged the good artist. Blue Sweden Shoes will be included in some of the appearances of Presley on television national: “Training course Show” (February 2nd 1956); “Training course Show” (March 17th 1956); “Milton Berle Show” (April 3rd 1956). the next song with being recorded is My Baby Left Me , of Arthur “Big Boy” Crudup, which will be found opposite B simple the I Want You, I Need You, I Coils You (RCA 47-6540). Interpreted in a style honky-tonk, One Sided-Coils Affair is another of the songs that Sholes suggested with the singer. This time, Long Shorty replaces Floyd Cramer with the piano. Then one attacks another song of Crudup, So Glad You' Re Undermines , which will appear only on the second album of Elvis Presley of 1956, Elvis . The following day, I' m Gonna Sit Right Down And Cry (Over You) , a song of Roy Hamilton (1954), is immortalisée on ribbon, like Tutti Frutti , song of Little Richard. The February 3rd are recorded the songs Lawdy, Miss Clawdy and Shake, Rattle And Roll .
