Elvenking
Elvenking is a group of folk/Power metal coming from Italy.
Biography
Elvenking was formed in October 1997 by two friends guitarists, Aydan and Jarpen, dividing both a passion for the metal and the Folk. In spite of the fast recruitment of Sargon as bass player, the group encountered many problem of line-up which prevented it from developing. In March 1998, Damnagoras joined the group as singer, followed by the beater Zender in September. It after arrived only of its two musicians that the group found a stability in its formation.The principal goal of Elvenking was to create a group mélant Power metal and Folk. After being itself produced several times, the group decides enregister a demonstration, To Oak Woods Bestowed , running 2000. Damnagoras carried out at the same time the song and the low one on this demonstration, because Sargon had left the group before. However the demonstration met a sufficient success to make it possible the group to sign on the German label AFM Records.
Some time afterwards, Gorlan, a friend of Aydan and Jarpen, joined the group as a bass player.
The first album studio Heathenreel was recorded with the New Sin Audio Design by Luigi Stefanini and was mixed with the Fredman Studios by Fredrik Nordstrom. The cover was carried out by Travis Smith and the logo of the group was imagined by J.P. Fournier, which had also produced artworks for Avantasia and Immortal. The album left the July 23rd 2001 and was very well accommodated by many criticisms. The round which of followed traversed Europe, as well as festivals at the sides of other very famous groups like Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Edguy and Virgin Steele.
In August 2002, due to health reasons, Damnagoras left the group. Elvenking recruited a new vocalist, Kleid, which brought with him a spirit resolutely folk in the group. Elyghen also arrived can afterwards as violonist and keyboardist. It is with this line-up that the group was confined of its second album, Wyrd , recorded with the Gernhart studios with Martin Buchwalter, mixed with the House off music studios with Achim Kolher, leaves the April 19th 2004. This album fits always more in the personal style which the group develops.
Towards the end of 2004 taken again Damnagoras its place in the group, taking again the station which it had left in Kleid, and Elvenking started to work on its third album, The Winter Wake .
The February 4th 2005, Jarpen, guitarist and founding member left Elvenking.
The Winter Wake left the March 11th 2006.
Influences
Elvenking stated to be highly influenced by enormously of music and folk dances coming from everywhere in the world, but also by the whole of the scene metal. Among the most influential groups of course Skyclad is.
