The area is overall dry and not very fertile, except however southernmost coasts, covered of a thick jungle, strewn with cultures of cane with sugar. Culture
The local culture is still what defines best the area, rather than its geography. If Khajiits which is able to be held upright wear clothing and as a whole adopted the principal features of a culture and a behavior " humanoïde" , it does not remain about it less than they keep traces of their animal half, in particular by their wild and irascible side.
Moreover, Khajiits are naturally related to small glasswares and the jewels, and particularly affectionnent tattooings, which in certain regions have a religious significance. Until still little time ago, the ceaseless quarrels between the Khajiites tribes did not exceed the limits of the province. In 2nd 309, however, two local kings decided to join together their fields in order to create the Confederation of Elsweyr.
At the time of alliance between the kingdoms of Anequina and Pellitine, in a dash of optimism, Khajiits then decided to name their new " field; Elsweyr" (deformation of the " term; elsewhere" , which means " ailleurs"), in homage to an old proverb khajiit which says " the perfect company exists always quelquepart ailleurs"
The wandering tribes of the desert, under the direction of their chiefs, felt betrayed and started a war against Elsweyr. Little of was necessary so that the Empire at that time did not make control on the whole of the area when it was called for the aid by one of the two kings; but he was then confronted in-house with the same kind of difficulties, and differed his intervention.
Finally, an intermediate solution of alternation of the capacity was found by the Basket Rid-You har-ri' Datta: according to a cycle based on the moons, the capacity is ensured by the noble ones or the chiefs of the wandering tribes. Since then, Elsweyr remained very discrete.
A last important note for the adventurous traveller: rumors circulate in this moment on a possible agreement between the Elves and Khajiits to thwart the Empire. The Human ones are perhaps less better seen there nowadays…
