Elric is a fantastic Roleplay medieval being held in the universe of the Young Kingdoms (imagined by Michael Moorcock in its saga éponyme). He is the successor of the play Stormbringer. Published at Chaosium, of which it uses celebrates it system (following the example the Call of Cthulhu , Hawkmoon (he even based on a saga of Moorcock), etc), it makes it possible to the players to mainly incarnate the human ones evolving/moving in an impious world of magic, elementary creatures, and démoniaques divinities. Its system of simple, effective and realistic play will allure the beginners while its rich and complex universe will charm the veterans. Even if it does not touch an audience as large as Donjons and Dragons , Elric remains all the same a major play in the universe of the rolism.

The first edition of Stormbringer, the predecessor of Elric, was created into 1987 in the United States by Kenneth E. St Andre, the author of the roleplay Tunnels and Trolls, and was published in the Chaosium editor. The english language version met much success near the anglophone public, and of many supplements were published by Chaosium, which renamed the play Elric! The French version was published at Oriflam, which translated almost all the American supplements.

Mongoose Publishing, a British editor who had repurchased the license of Hawkmoon, created in 2007 a new version of this play, with a system of play drawn from the fourth edition of RuneQuest. This new edition was not translated yet into French.
