Elliot Goldenthal is a American Compositeur born with New York the May 2nd 1954. Raise Aaron Copland and John Corigliano, it studies in Manhattan School off Music. It is primarily known as a type-setter of film musics. It signs in particular the partitions of Alien ³ (David Fincher, 1992), Titus (Julie Taymor, 1999), Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within (Hironobu Sakaguchi, 2001) or Frida (Julie Taymor, 2002) which will enable him to obtain its first Oscar.
Elliot Goldenthal also writes musics for the theater and the concert halls. Its most known works are its Ballet Othello , a Oratorio for great unit Fire Paper Toilets: In Vietnam Oratorio , composed for the 20ème birthday of the end of the War of Vietnam as well as the incidental music of The Green Bird and Juan Darien: In Carnival Farmhouse .
Its very personal style is characterized by a writing inspired of the music which émeregé with the modernistic culture and which developed until its contemporaries, such as Iannis Xenakis, putting forward sometimes violent and very coppered sonorities. Its first opera, Grendel, are created on May 27th 2006, on a Livret Co-writing with his/her partner, the director Julie Taymor, and are based on a news of John Gardner. Since, Elliot Goldenthal decided to dedicate its career to works in concert.
Elliot Goldenthal gained several prices of which the Arturo Toscanini Award and the price New Music for Young Ensembles composition.
