Ellery Queen

Ellery Queen (born in 1929 - deceased in 1971) is a American writer .

Biographies

Celebrate scanner of enigmas, Ellery Queen is itself remained a mysterious character a long time. One knows today that under this famous name Manfred B. Lee and Frederic Dannay hide, two cousins born in 1905 with New York (the United States), in the district of Brooklyn. Both work in publicity (Lee after its passage to the university) when, in 1928, they take part to have fun with a contest of detective novels: the Mystery of the silk hat gains the price and such a success that the editor commits them to continue to write - Ellery Queen was born in 1929. Shortly after will be born its counterpart Barnaby Ross, which will produce another series of novels, reprinted under the signature from Ellery Queen. Lee under the name of Queen, Dannay under that of Ross, the masked face, make dialogued lecture tours which have also a great success. They create their second large “detective”: Drury Lane. They also found in 1941 the review Ellery Queen' S Mystery Magazine which publishes the best police news. Between the novels, the news, the anthologies, the two cousins wrote more than eighty works. Manfred B. Lee died the April 2nd 1971. Frederic Dannay is as for him deceased the September 3rd 1982.
