Elko is a small town located in the Comté of Elko, in the north of the state of the Nevada (). In 2000, the city counted: 20732 inhabitants. Elko is the place chief of the county of Elko.

Geography and climate

The geographical coordinates of Elko are: 40°83' 63 96 NR, 115°76' 55 25 W. According to the data of the office of census of the United States, Elko extends on 37,5 km ². It is crossed by the river Humboldt, which does not run in a permanent way. The city is indeed in an arid area , the Grand Basin where the rivers are endoreic.
