Elisha Pease
Elisha Marshall Pease (born the January 3rd 1812 with Enfield in the Connecticut, dead the August 26th 1883 with Lampasas with the Texas) was a American Politicien and was governor of Texas twice.
After having begun studies with the Academy of Westfield in the Massachusetts, Pease leaves to settle with Mina in Texas in 1835, whereas this area still formed part of the Mexico. While continuing its studies of rights, it becomes active in the movement for the independence of Texas. After the Révolution of Texas started, he becomes secretary of the provisional government and coécrit the Constitution of Texas. After independence was acquired, Pease is named controller of the accounts public.
He proposes first once under governor in 1851 and essuie a defeat. However, at the time of the two next elections in 1853 and 1855, it is elected. As a governor, it refunds in particular the national debt.
During the American Civil war, it places side of the Union. After the war, it becomes dirigieant it of the Republican party and is reinstalled as a governor of Texas by the general Philip Sheridan.
Elisha Pease dies of Apoplexie in 1883 and is buried with the cimitière of Austin.
