Elisabeth Mann-Borgese
Elisabeth Mann-Borgese is more the young girl of Thomas Mann and his wife Katia Pringsheim, the sister of Klaus, Erika, Golo, Monika and Michael Mann and the niece of the novelist Heinrich Mann. She is born the April 24th 1918 with Munich (Germany) and dies the February 8th 2002 with Saint-Moritz (Suisse). Married with the Italian writer Giuseppe Antonio Borgese (1882 - 1952), it is the mother of two girls, Angelica and Dominica.
She engages very early in favor of protection of the Environnement and is one of the founding members -- and for a long time the only female member -- Club of Rome. As expert recognized in right and maritime policy, she works as professor with the Université Dalhousie of Halifax (Canada).
In 1988, it is named member of the Ordre of Canada.
