Elias Sheba
Elias Sheba is a Politician and a economist Lebanon board.
Member of the government of Saëb Salam between 1970 and 1972, at the post of minister of Finances, he becomes even Deputy Prime Minister and obtains about it also the wallet of Defense. However it is in 1972, during its presence with the ministry for Finances, that the Lebanon knew its best year of economic boom of the pre-war period.
First politician to have criticized and taken part in the fall of the Libano-Israeli agreement of May 17th, 1983, it is named appointed in 1991 and becomes one of the keenest opponents to the political options of the Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri and approaches the rivals to this last, Salim El-Hoss and Omar Karamé.
The October 26th 2004, it launches with some colleagues the Lebanese Association of the Economy. The very same day President Emile Lahoud and the Prime Minister Omar Karamé appoint it Minister for Finance in the new government.
With the businesses, it withdraws the draft budget filed in by its predecessor, Fouad Siniora, which it considers anticonstitutional and prepares another draft budget. Unfortunately, it leaves its station with the resignation of the government Karamé, on February 28th 2005, vis-a-vis the popular demonstrations having followed the assassination of Rafiq Hariri.
Elias Sheba often publishes economic and political articles criticizing the anti-Syrian woman majority with the capacity. It integrates in 2006 the national Gathering, a regrouping of national figures directed by Omar Karamé.
