Elias Murr

Elias Murr (Arab: إلياسالمرّ - born in 1962) is a Politician Lebanon board, wire of the former Deputy Prime Minister Michel Murr and son-in-law of the President of the Lebanese republic Emile Lahoud.

Appointed Minister of Interior Department into 2000 within the government of Rafiq Hariri until October 2004, its passage remains discussed. Its partisans evoke the improvement of safety, its fight against drug and the organized crime whereas its opponents fustigate the electoral frauds under its crook, in particular at the time of the bys-election of 2002 in Metn, which saw the shock between his/her sister Myrna Murr and the candidate of the opposition - his own uncle - Gabriel Murr.

Its relations tended with the forces of Renseignement Syria N move away it from the government with the resignation of Rafiq Hariri in 2004 and it loses its station with the ministry for the Interior to the profit of Soleimane Frangié Jr.

It is named Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense within the government of Najib Mikati, charged with organizing the legislative elections of 2005 after the Syrian withdrawal. He miraculeusement escapes an bomb attack which aimed at it the July 12th 2005 and is seriously wounded. He showed the Syrian services implicitly later to be behind this attempt. He preserves his post of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense in the government of Fouad Siniora and adopts an equidistant position between the majority forces of March 14th to the cabinet and his father-in-law Emile Lahoud.

He organized the deployment of the Lebanese Armée in the South with the Lebanon, following the war which opposed the Hezbollah to Israel in July - August 2006, in accordance with the resolution 1701 of the Safety advice.
