Elia Suleiman

Elia Suleiman (Arabic : إيلياسليمان), born the July 28th 1960 with Nazareth, is a Réalisateur, Scénariste and Acteur palestino-Israeli. He is especially known for his film left in 2002, divine Intervention (Arab: Yad Ilahiyya ), a tragic comedy modern on the daily life in the Palestinian territories which gained in 2002 the price of the jury to the Cannes festival. Often compared with Tati or Keaton, Elia Suleiman handles the Burlesque and gravity with the same poetic direction .

Biography

Between 1982 - 1993, Suleiman lives with New York, where it carries out two short films: Homage by assassination and Introduction at the end of an argument , which shows the representation of the Arab to the Télévision and in the Cinéma Hollywood IEN, which are worth several rewards to him. In 1994, it moves with Jerusalem where the European commission charges it with creating a Cinéma department and Media with the university of Bir Zeit. In 2000, it left its second film Cyber Palestine .

In 2006, Suleiman is one of the new members of the jury of the Cannes festival chaired by the realizer Chinese Wong Kar-Wai.
