Elia Kazan
Elia Kazanjoglous (September 7th, 1909 - September 28th, 2003), known as Elia Kazan , is a realizer and a director of American theater.
Biography
Born with Constantinople in Turkey, wire of a merchant of Greek carpet . In 1911, the family emigrates with the the United States. In the the Thirties, it is interested in the theater within the Group Theater initially like actor, then like director. He amongst other things adapts Mort of a commercial traveller of Arthur Miller. He is one of the founders, with Cheryl Crawford and Robert Lewis, of a dramatic school of Art, the Actors Studio in 1947.He turns to the Cinéma in the Années 1950. He realizes: a Tram named Desire (1951), Viva Zapata (1952), In the east of Eden (1955), On the Quays (1954) which is classified in the eighth place of the Top 100 of American Film Institute and Arrangement (1969). He marries Barbara Loden (director of Wanda) in 1968.
He receives two Oscars, like better realizer. He also receives a Oscar for the whole of his career in 1999. He had a certain notoriety at the time of his testimony before the commission of the anti-American activities. He had then testified against his former comrades to the Communist party, from which he had been excluded in 1936, two years after his adhesion.
This event must however be replaced from the point of view of the life of Kazan, and the importance, even for the crowned character which took on in its eyes the American dream.
