Eliézer Shohat
Eliezer Shohat ( אליעזרשוחט ) was an active protagonist of the movement Sioniste.
He is born in 1874 in Russia, and emigrates in Palestine in 1904. Eliézer is the brother of Israel Shohat, member of Hashomer.
Eliézer Shohat defends simultaneously the rights of the workers and the intentions Zionists of the Jewish people. From its imposing presence and its influence, it is at the ideological base of the second wave of Aliyah, of the Légion of Work, the Histadrout for the area of the Galileo, the party Hapoel Hatzaïr and with that of the organization Hahoresh.
Eliézer Shohat of a spiritual nature and is endowed with a spirit of written creativity. With the question " Why didn't it launch out in the writing? " what poses the pioneer and writer Shlomo Tzémah, this last answers " the Galileo completely monopolized it, and Shohat has simultaneously all to him donné" .
Installed with the Kibbutz Merhavia, he marries Hana Meizel with which he will share his life later only a few years. Shohat works with Migdal and takes part in different Congrès Zionist S, whereas Hana directs the farm Haalamot.
During the First World War, Shohat passes from one establishment to the other and works some time with Kinéret. At the end of the war, one counts it among the founders of Nahalal. Shohat expresses its convictions thus: " We cannot allow ourselves to make build by others the Ground of Israel. One cannot let humidify this ground by the sweat of others ".
Shohat leaves finally Nahalal and becomes editor on behalf of the party Avoda.
Eliézer Shohat dies in 1971.
